Announcing the Passing of Andy Green

It is with great sadness that we must report the passing of Andy Green.

A great part of Burnage RFC’s recent history, Andy served as General Manager and Steward for more than 8 years, before returning to life as a pub landlord. During his time here he returned to rugby, playing for the Burnage 3’s and sharing a pitch with both his sons, James and Jason under Burnage colours. When Burnage committed to restarting the Mini and Juniors in 2010, he was first to stand up and support coaching duties. A regular at the old boys lunches and a regular face at Burnage for so many years. Andy passed away peacefully in his sleep after a short illness at 5am 15 February 2023.

RIP Greeney! 🖤💛🖤💛 Funeral details will follow when available.

Steve, tell me a little about the history of the club and how you came to be part of it. “The club was formed in 1936-37, originally at Burnage Grammar School. Then Emerson gifted 3.5 acres of land in the mid-1970s and we moved to Varley Park, which is where we have been ever since".
