Planning a funeral is one of the hardest things that you’ll ever have to do, but most people will experience it. The worst time to plan anything is when you are full of grief, but sadly this is always the case when it comes to funerals. So we are hoping to share some hints and tips to make it a little bit easier for you. Here at BRFC we have a lot of experience in running all sorts of events, so we are here to make it a little bit easier for you.

Following the loss of a loved one, planning a funeral reception can feel like a daunting task. You want to create a space that honours their memory and allows family and friends to gather, share stories, and celebrate a life well-lived. Burnage Rugby Club (BRFC), nestled in the heart of South Manchester, offers a unique and welcoming venue to host a meaningful and memorable funeral reception.

BRFC is a wonderful setting for a funeral  With its tranquil 11-acre green space, spacious indoor facilities, and a dedicated events team, it offers a serene and flexible environment for a funeral reception. Although you are still in the heart of Manchester it feels peaceful, and it is easy for you to be transported emotionally.

Planning Your Reception:

  • Contact the Events Team: Reach out to the BRFC events team to discuss your requirements and availability. We can provide detailed information on pricing, catering options, and room layouts.
  • Guest List and Invitations: Consider the number of guests who might attend the funeral service and decide on the ideal reception capacity. Send out tasteful invitations with details about the venue, date, and time. The club is very flexible in being able to cater for all sorts of numbers big or small, so we can make it work for you.
  • Food and Drinks: We have a fantastic in house team that can provide a variety of food, from a sit-down meal to a finger buffet. If you have a particular food in mind we are happy to work with outside caterers so you can have exactly what you want. There is a well-stocked bar with reasonable prices.
  • Personal Touches: This is where you can truly honour your loved one’s memory. Display photos, memorabilia, or their favourite flowers. You could even play a playlist of their favourite music to create a warm and familiar atmosphere. BRC has a great sound system and Wall-mounted TVs so you can have a montage of pictures showing their whole life.
  • Activities: Consider including a guest book or a memory board where attendees can share messages and stories. It’s really comforting to have something you can take away as a new set of memories. You can also incorporate activities that encourage mingling and reminiscing about the deceased.
  • Transport and Location: At funerals there is often a very high number of elderly or disabled guests who are coming. At BRC we have a huge carpark with disabled spaces just out the front of the club, so you need have no worries about more vulnerable people being able to get there. Of course the club offers all the disability amenities inside.

A funeral is a celebration of a life as well as a farewell to a person. There is no way that it can be made less painful, but contact us today to see if we can help with the practicalities.
