Throwing a party is meant to be fun, but somehow it’s always stressful. You want your party to stand out. It doesn’t matter if it’s a Christmas party, a birthday party, a retirement party. All parties share certain things that help them go. So this is a 2 part blog to help you plan your perfect party.

Choose a theme.

Do this first.. Even if the theme is ‘no theme” at least you will know what you are doing. Themes can be anything from 80s music, to fancy dress. They can be simple or complicated. This is why it’s so important to have a clear idea of what kind of party you want to throw. If it’s high glam black and white, then your décor and music and even your food is going to be different from if it’s hippie dippy. Below is a list of 5 possible themes you can adopt for your perfect party.

  1. Glamorous and Glittering:
  • Dress code: Black tie or cocktail.
  • Decor: Crystal, silver and gold accents, and floral arrangements.
  • Food and drink: Champagne, smoked salmon and other upscale options.
  • Music: Classic jazz, contemporary R&B, or upbeat pop.
  1. Bohemian Rhapsody:
  • Dress code: Free-spirited and eclectic fashion.
  • Decor: Macrame, dreamcatchers, floral crowns, and earthy color palettes.
  • Food and drink: Fresh, organic options and signature cocktails.
  • Music: Acoustic, folk, or world music.
  1. Vintage Vogue:
  • Dress code: 1920s, 1950s, or 1970s inspired outfits.
  • Decor: Vinyl records, vintage props, great wigs.
  • Food and drink: Classic cocktails and finger foods.
  • Music: Swing, big band, or disco.
  1. Tropical Paradise:
  • Dress code: Bright colors, floral prints, sarongs
  • Decor: Palm trees, tropical flowers, hanging lanterns, and ocean-inspired accents.
  • Food and drink: Refreshing cocktails, grilled food, and tropical fruit.
  • Music: Reggae, calypso, or Latin.
  1. Modern Minimalist:
  • Dress code: Sleek and sophisticated attire.
  • Decor: Clean lines, neutral colors, and functional furniture.
  • Food and drink: Contemporary cuisine and stylish cocktails.
  • Music: House, techno, or electronic.
